Here I will try to collect (and annotate) websites
that I can use in writing an article about Education in Africa.
The article is being written at the request of the Africa 20:20 Association in Iceland
who are preparing a book on Africa..

I will be using Activity Theory to organise my information.

For more about activity theory see the home page of the
Center for Activity Theory and Developmental Work Research.

Using activity theory should help me to look for
inconsistencies or contradictions in the informatiion.

I will look at the context within which education in Africa occurs and
I will look at the outcomes which are expected of education in the 21st century.

I will also look at the actors involved in education,
the teachers/facilitators and the pupils/learners.
I will also try to look at the communities within which they operate and
the objects of the educational tasks being carried out.

Educational activities are mediated by the tools available to facilitators and learners,
by the rules which guide educational activity (such as curriculum) and the
division of labour or roles which the actors must assume within their educational systems..
